Amanda and Matt’s wedding started at an amazing looking church in the small village of Dethick in Derbyshire, a popular hiking spot for them both. I had visited this church once before but up until now never had the chance to photograph a wedding their so it was safe to say I was really looking forward to it, as well as the lighting and space challenge. I find all weddings special with each one having their own unique special moments, one of these moments at this particular wedding was the ceremony itself as it was Matt’s (the groom) father who was to marry them both that day. It must have been a true memorable moment for them all, especially Matt and his Dad.
After the beautiful ceremony and some formal photos on the church grounds we all headed off to the New Bath Hotel in Matlock Bath for the wedding breakfast. Having photographed a few weddings at the New Bath I feel lucky to be familiar with the grounds and surroundings which we made good use of on the day as the weather was amazing.
Both Amanda, Matt and all the guests were fantastic throughout the day and I wish them both all the best on their new journey ahead as a married couple.
I have put a selection of images up for viewing which can be found here.
All weddings are rememberable but this one will always stand out, this was Holly & Lukes farming theme wedding. I had a fantastic two days photographing Holly & Lukes wedding, starting at holly’s parents house for some bridal photos then to Tansley Church in Derbyshire for a wonderful ceremony. As I waited for the groomsmen to arrive I got a heads up that they will be arriving via tractors and I don’t think I will ever get another opportunity to photograph a wedding where we had five tractors attending, it certainly made for a change and a challenge. The sun was shining and everyone attending were a joy to photograph especially Holly and Luke who did amazing, everyone one smiling all day including myself.
The second day I took the bride and groom over to Matlock Park gardens where we had some photos with Luke’s second companion, his farm dog, who was extreamly well behaved! This also allowed for a few more photos of Holly & Luke together before we headed over to the the football club in Matlock for the evening party to start, where their were lots of guests!
Here is a small selection of photos from the two days.
Having seen this little walk a few times whilst passing I have never actually been up despite being on my doorstep. Darwin forest lies on the moors of Derbyshire and offers some amazing woodlands which are perfect for autumn shots when their leaves start to drop, with the right light you can get some amazing “outdoor” photos. So this weekend with rain clouds passing and the odd break of lovely light in between I was determined to get up there and with a bit of bribery I managed to get my “not so little any more” son away from his iPad and out with our little dog for a wonder.
There are some super spots and lots of them, with lovely long trails and high trees to give a lovely smooth background this is a perfect spot for them outdoor family shoots. £10 lighter and another rain cloud rolling in we headed home with a nice set of portraits for the wall, an hour well spent!
